Artist at any stage of their career are encouraged to apply for a fellowship through our online application system. Applicants are required to fill out an application form, submit work samples and attach a CV and current work statement. There is a $25 application fee. While our staff reviews applications for completeness, a jury of experts in each artist’s field evaluates the applications and identifies the finalists. Finalists will be invited for phone interviews, and all applicants will be informed of the committee’s decision by the notification date for the relevant application period. Artistic excellence is the primary criterion for acceptance into the Fellowship Program.

Before You Apply
Before beginning the online application, please prepare your materials thoughtfully. Incomplete applications and applications that fail to follow the guidelines below will be rejected unread. All applications must be submitted through the online application system.
Application Form: The application form has basic questions about you, your work, and your working habits and preferences. You will be asked to self-identify the selection panel that will review your work.
Work Sample Work samples are attached to your application by uploading media within the online application. For technical support, see the applicant help page at SlideRoom.com or contact email@example.com. For other issues or questions, please contact us.
If you are an artists who works flat or sculpturally, you will be asked to upload up to ten digital images of your artwork. The file size for each image cannot exceed 5 MB and should be no larger than 1,200 pixels in any direction. Please only one piece per image. Two of the ten images may be detail shots or installation views. Each image should be accompanied by a title, date and medium. For flat work, when formatting your images, please do so in a way that the edges of the work are visible. Please do not include your name anywhere in the work sample files.
If you are an artist who’s work is time based, you will be asked to upload up to ten files – still images or videos — documenting your work. Each video must not exceed 2 minutes in length or 250 MB in size. Please make sure to include any pertinent information about the work including a title, year and a brief description to put the work in context. Please do not include your name anywhere in the work sample files.
You will be asked to submit a writing sample by uploading a single PDF file in manuscript format in a 12-point legible font. Files cannot exceed 10 MB each. The title of the piece should appear on the top of each uploaded file, but your name should not appear anywhere in the file in order to keep our jury process anonymous.
Poetry – 5-10 poems or 15 pages
Fiction – No more than 15 pages, double-spaced
Creative Non-Fiction – No more than 15 pages, double-spaced
Playwriting – No more than 25 pages.
Supporting Documents In addition to the work sample. we will ask for the following supporting documentation to be added as attachments to your application form.
You will be asked to upload, in a single-page pdf, your CV. We are most interested in seeing any upcoming show or publications, your recent show or publication history, your educational experience, any other residencies you have attended and your most recent professional work,. This document can include your name and will be available to our juries if you should reach the final stages of the selection process.
Current Work Statement
You will be asked to upload as a pdf, a statement that describes in 500 words or less, what you’re working on at the moment. This is less of a formal artist statement and more of an opportunity for you to touch on some of the ideas that you’re excited about and exploring in your studio or writing. This document can include your name and will be available to our juries if you should reach the final stages of the selection process.
